Bristol Beaufighter G6A/500277 Engine Temperature Gauge

Designed as a bomber interceptor, by March 1941, over half of the 22 German aircraft claimed by British fighters were by Beaufighters.

During the night of 19/20 May 1941, during one air raid upon London, a total of 24 aircraft were shot down by Beaufighters against two that were downed by anti-aircraft ground fire.

As its wartime service continued, the Bristol Beaufighter was used in many different roles; as a rocket-armed ground attack aircraft, a torpedo bomber against Axis shipping and in later operations, as a maritime strike/ground attack aircraft with

The twin Taurus engines of the ageing Bristol Beaufort, originally installed in the Bristol Beaufighter were quickly found to be hopelessly underpowered for the new interceptor fighter/torpedo bomber.

Replaced by the more powerful supercharged Bristol Hercules 4-cylinder air-cooled, radial engines, deliverying 1600hp each, the Bristol Beaufighter boasted a top speed of over 320mph.

Mounted just below the Bristol Beaufighter’s twin RMP gauges at the bottom right of the main flying panel, this early G6A/500277 Air Temp gauge features the enlarged indicator numerals of the early British, Australian and USAAF cockpit indicator gauges.

This Bristol Beaufighter Instrument comes complete with detailed Scale Model, Mango Wood Stand & Plaque plus Printed Fact Sheet featuring photo of instrument in aircraft cockpit.

* Note that this Beaufighter Instrument is pictured with a 1/48 scale model rather than the standard detailed, but smaller 1/72 scale. Click on the 'Model Upgrade' option at the top of this page for the larger 1/48 scale
