The Grumman F-9F Panther was one of the most succesful carrier-based fighter/bombers of the US Navy and Marine Corps and flew over 7,800 sorties during the Korean War.
Mounted in the centre of the pilot's flight instrument panel, the bottom knob adjusted the aircraft's indexing within the dial to align the perspective of the pilot to the horizon indicator.
