Rare Grumman TBF Avenger Bendix -Scintilla Type EF Engine Magneto Switch

Located at the far left of the TBF Avenger's main flying panel, the Bendix - Scintilla Type EF Magneto Switch enabled the pilot to switch to one of the aircraft's two main batteries or run them in parallel to start the torpedo bombers powerful 1900hp Wright R-2600-20 Twin Cyclone, fourteen-cylinder, radial engine.

One of the heaviest single-engine bombers of the Pacific campaign, the Grumman TBF Avenger could cruise at 270mph with a range of over 1000 miles.

Capable of carrying one Bliss-Levitt Mark 13 torpedo, a single 2,000lb bomb, or up to four 500lb bombs, the Avenger saw its first combat action during the battle of Midway when six TBFs were launched from the USN carrier Hornet along with the rest of the squadron's ageing Devastators.

The 1/72 and 1/48 scale, hand-built and airbrushed plastic models are available with a choice of two Squadron markings and camouflage as well as either in full flight mode with canopy open or closed, or landed mode with flaps and wheels down and canopy open or closed.
