Late WWII & Postwar 1949, Air Ministry 490kt Air Speed Indicator installed in the British Mk V & MkVI Hawker Tempest ground-attack fighter.

The Mk 9G 6/A3146 490kt Airspeed Indicator first came into production in late 1944 and was installed in the MkV & MkVI Hawker Tempests as well as the Supermarine PR Mk.XIII photo reconnaissance Spitfire, MkXIV high altitude Spitfire and the Mk XV and Mk. XVII Supermarine Seafires.

With a date of 1949, this example is one of the last production runs of the Mk 9G 6/A3146 490kt Airspeed Indicator and was installed immediately in front of the pilots control column on the main flying panel to the left of the aircraft's Artificial Horizon. 

With its undamaged bakelite case and clear, scratch-free glass face, this Air Ministry 490kt Air Speed Indicator presents an amazing opportunity to secure a rare piece of late WWII/Post War aviation history from an operational Hawker Tempest MkVI.
