The P-47's 1AN 5771-1 Fuel Pressure Gauge was installed as part of the aircraft's cluster of engine guages on the P-47 main instrument panel at the pilot's bottom right between the aircraft's Manifold Pressure and Cylinder Head Temperature gauges, directly below the RMP Gauge.
The P-47's 2,000 hp (1,500 kW) Pratt & Whitney R-2800 Double Wasp engine was the same powerplant used for both the USN F4U Corsair and the F6F Hellcat.
Whilst eventually relinquishing its bomber escort role to the P-51 Mustang, the P-47 Thunderbolt distinguished itself as a much feared ground attack fighter/bomber when the Allies took the fight back to continental Europe.
Manufactured by the Electric Auto-Lite Co this 1AN 5771-1, Fuel Pressure Gauge comes complete with Manufacture's plate and is dated 1943.
