Bulova, Type G-1 Load Meter installed in the F-100 Super Sabre - the USAF's primary air and ground-support fighter/bomber of the Vietnam war

The first USAF fighter/bomber to see action in the Vietnam War, the F-100 Super Sabre carried some of the most advanced instrumentation of its time. One of two Load Meters mounted just in front of the pilot's control column, the Bulova Type G-1 Load Meter kept track of the aircraft's tremendous current draw. 

The F-100 Super Sabre was designed as part of the next generation of supersonic fighter aircraft following on from the hugely successful F-86 Sabre of the Korean war. As such, it's radically designed swept wing and complicated flight surfaces proved a challenge for its pilots to master, resulting in significant accidental losses through airframe malfunctions in the early stages of its development and operational life.

It was not until the introduction of the F-100D that the Super Sabre really came into its own and evolved into one of the most effective and longest serving USAF aircraft of the Vietnam campaign.
