Skeleton Typewriter

I discovered this amazing retro object at the back of a herbalist store, a pushbike ride out of central Kuching, Borneo. My Malay and Chinese are pretty rudimentary but I managed to find out it belonged to a late uncle and had been used as a door prop for many years.

It was quiet a challenge cycling the dirt roads back to the marina balancing it on the handlebars!

It weighs a tonne but I just had to have it. There's something totally sculptural about its skeletal and exposed framework. Image this on a sideboard in a modern apartment or centrepiece on a lounge room table. Its a work of vintage/modern art don't you think? I just love it!
